Chilli Prawn Gyoza

Chilli Prawn Gyoza

For the first time I took a trip to the MEGA (and I mean MEGA) Wing Yip Chinese supermarket. A real emporium of goodies, I couldn't resist purchasing some bamboo steamers and decided to challenge myself to make some homemade Gyoza. It does takes a little time and can be a little fiddly but its fun to try!

Recipe

Chilli Prawn Gyoza

SERVES: 6    TIME TO MAKE: 5-8 MINS     TIME TO PREP: 30 MINS

Ingredients:
400g prawns
2 spring onions
handful of fresh chives
2 red chillies
1 tsp ginger (chopped finely)
1 garlic clove minced
1 tbsp soy sauce
30 wonton wrappers
1 tsp sesame oil

Method:
1) In a mixing bowl, mix together the prawns, finely chopped spring onions, chives, ginger, chillies and garlic

2) Add the soy sauce and sesame oil and mix together

3) Lay out your wonton wrappers and fill with some of the mixture (you can also hold one at a time in your hands)

4) Have a small bowl of warm water by you, dip your finger into it, and run it along the outter circle of the wonton wrapper

5) Fold the wrapper in half (into a semi-circle) and pinch together gently to seal

6) Lay on a tray or chopping board (basically a flat surface) so that the bottom is flat and it can stand upright

7) Repeat till you finish making them all (this bit takes the longest but keep going as it's worth it)

8) Lay them out 6 at a time in the steamer and cook for around 5-8 mins until its soft

ENJOY!

HANDY TIP:
You can make them up and freeze them if you don't want to eat them all straight away!
