Recipe

Rajma (Kidney bean curry)

SERVES: 4    TIME TO PREP: 5 HOURS    TIME TO COOK: 1 HOUR

Ingredients:
2 containers of kidney beans
1 onion chopped
1/2 tin chopped tomatoes
1/2 tsp garam masala
2 tsp salt
6 green chillies
1 tbsp chopped ginger and garlic
1/2 tsp turmeric

Method:
1) Soak the kidney beans overnight

2) Cook the onion, chilies, ginger and garlic till golden

3) Add the chopped tomatoes, turmeric and salt

4) Cook till the oil bubbles appear

5) Add the kidney beans but keep quarter of them aside

6) Mash the quarter of kidney beans you have kept aside. This will create a thicker gravy
 
7) Add this to the rest of the kidney beans

8) Add the garam masala

9) Bring to the boil

10) Cook for 45 mins
