I had been to SUSHISAMBA London a couple of times after work for drinks, but I was just waiting for the right occasion and opportunity to taste the food. I booked the restaurant for my husbands birthday - although I must admit, I had him confused when I mentioned the concept was Japanese/Brazilian meets Peruvian.
Entering the glass lift, we super-sped up to the 39th floor, followed our way through the bar area into the restaurant, to be hit with THAT view! 360-views of London and despite working in the city for the last 8 years I never get bored of that view. How could you? (The fact it was a clear, beautiful and sunny day added to the wow factor!)
I would definitely recommend you go for some cocktails and watch the sun go down (as there are no time limitations with drinks at the bar.) If you get peckish, and have no booking, they have a small sushi bar where you can watch the chefs at work whilst eating. It does get very busy, quickly though.
Often full of business suits in the weekdays the weekend definitely feels a little more relaxed.
Food is pricey - especially if you (like us,) want to sample a combination of things from the menu but it’s worth it for a special occasion. Visually the food is glorious, colourful and vibrant - each dish and plate that arrives is 10/10 for presentation.
My favourite and most memorable dishes are the Prawn Tempura, Black Cod Robata and the SASA Samba Roll. You may think Prawn Tempura - but it was one of the tastiest I have tried. Tossed together with Sugar Snap peas, mixed in with a Spicy Mayo and topped with a Black Truffle Vinaigrette I didn’t want it to end!
The staff are hit and miss - some are really friendly, happy to talk through the menu and enhance the dining experience and others act as if they are doing you a favour.
Overall I would definitely go again and hope you enjoy then experience as much as I did.
