Tony Singh at Apex

Tony Singh at Apex

Review

I love a bit of Tony Singh - his personality, his eccentricities and fun twists on Indian Food. When I found out we were going to Edinburgh for a long weekend - I did a search for his restaurant and booked it straight away!

First Impressions:
In a nice, quiet and calmer part of the city, (we went during Hogmanay) we found ourselves at the entrance of the Apex Hotel where Tony Singh's restaurant can be found. We would have almost missed it had it not been for the giant logo and transfer on the window.

Inside, it's a much larger space than I expected it to be. It felt relaxed, very informal - which I guess reflects his style.  Simplistic and brightly coloured interiors that compliment the bright colourful and playful menu.

The Food:
If you are looking for the usual Indian Restaurant menu filled with 'curries' you won't find it here. The menu is varied but small and I loved how each of the menu items have a quirky description that definately reflects Tony's sense of humour.

I went for the Bhangra Burger. This literally jumped out of the menu into my mouth when I read the description. Like its namesake - it's funky, big, bold, shake your booty burger of spiced lamb, topped with chicken tikka, poppadom, mint and coriander sauce and tamarind dressing. SOLD.

I was a little apprehensive before the burger arrived. When it did arrive I was not even sure I would be able to eat it all but after I finished - I wanted another!

The Conclusion:
This was hands down one of the best burgers I had ever eaten. The meat was good quality, melt in the mouth and cooked to perfection. The flavours and sauces complimented the burger so well.

I didn't have room for dessert after I was through with the burger but if ever in Edinburgh and fancy something a little different then you have to head here!
